JSSB Uniform Dancewear Information

JSSB’s dress code is based on classical standards of ballet. The dress code is designed to encourage unity and discipline among our students. Instructors are aided by the dress code in that they are able to see the body’s form to ensure that the dancer is moving safely and correctly. A dancer should focus on developing technique and artistry without distraction of loose or cumbersome clothing. Dress code does not apply to multilevel or adult classes.

We have transitioned our dancewear supplier to Discount Dance Supply! This will provide all our students the ability to order your uniform apparel at your own convenience. All dancers may still wear their current dancewear, we are asking all future purchases are made through this company as we transition. We have designed a JSSB specific page on their website with dancewear specific to each level.

Creative Dance I & II

  • Light pink uniform leotard – Capezio #CC400c

  • Pink ballet tights – Bloch FOOTED tights preferred and required for performances

  • Pink leather ballet slipper – Bloch #SO2077G/L or similar

  • Pink Wrap Sweater (optional) – Capezio #CC850C This is the only sweater allowed in classes

Creative Dance III

  • Light blue uniform leotard - Capezio #CC400c

  • Pink ballet tights – Bloch FOOTED tights preferred and required for performances

  • Pink LEATHER ballet slipper – Bloch #SO2077G/L or similar

  • Pink Wrap Sweater (optional) – Capezio #CC850C This is the only sweater allowed in classes

Beginning Ballet Level I

  • Light blue uniform leotard - Capezio #CC400c

  • Pre-Pointe Shoes

Intermediate Level III

  • Navy uniform leotard - Mirella MS201LD (Nylon/Spandex material)

  • Navy pointe skirt - Mirella MS12

  • Pink CONVERTIBLE tights – Bloch tights preferred and required for performances

  • Black convertible jazz tights – Bloch tights preferred and required for performances

  • Pink LEATHER ballet slipper – Bloch/Capezio recommended.

  • Black Character Skirt – Natalie N8108C/N8108 – Skirt should be below the knee

  • Pointe shoes - Dancers may not get pointe shoes until they are directed to do so by their instructors.

  • Black jazz shoe

Advanced Level A & Advanced Level B

  • Black convertible jazz tights – Bloch tights preferred and required for performances

  • Pink LEATHER ballet slipper – Bloch/Capezio recommended.

  • Black Character Skirt – Natalie N8108C/N8108 – Skirt should be below the knee

  • Pointe Shoes

  • Black jazz shoes

  • Dancers may need white leotards and white dance briefs for performances. They may also be required to have black character heels.

Male Dancers Attire: Black tights, dance belt, plain white t-shirt and black leather ballet slippers, black jazz shoes.

Company & Apprentice Company Level

  • Black uniform leotard (Mirella MS201LD)

  • Black pointe skirt (Mirella MS12)

  • Pink CONVERTIBLE tights – Bloch tights preferred and required for performances

  • Black convertible jazz tights – Bloch tights preferred and required for performances

  • Pink ballet slipper – Leather preferred

  • Black Character Skirt – Natalie N8108C/N8108 – Skirt should be below the knee

  • Pointe Shoes

  • Black jazz shoe

Dancers may need white leotards and white dance briefs for performances. They may also be required to have black character heels.

Company members (by invitation only) will also need: Company leotard & skirt and a white or black practice tutu.
